Introduced in 1983, the decimal £1 coin celebrates its 25th Anniversary in 2008.  In its 25-year existence, the coin has borne a total of 14 reverse designs which, in three series, has represented the four constituent parts of the United Kingdom.

This collection of sterling silver Proof £1 coins, all dated 2008 and all featuring the portrait of the Queen by Ian Rank-Broadley, brings those 14 reverse designs together, each highlighted in fine gold.

The original coins of 1983 featured the Royal Arms complete with supporters, a design which also appeared on the circulating £1 coins of 1993, 1998, 2003 and 2008 while the coin of 1988 bore a crowned shield of the Royal Arms.
