The Royal Australian Mint has produced this coin as a tribute to the reign of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.  Her Majesty The Queen has been The Sovereign of Australia for 47 years and has featured on the obverse of their coinage since The Queen’s Coronation in 1953.  There have been four effigies over the years, each a true representation of Her Majesty through the passage of time.  The latest effigy, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley, features on the obverse while the previous effigies take pride of place on the reverse.

The reverse of the coin features three effigies of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.  The first effigy, designed by Mary Gillick, appeared in 1953.  In 1966 Arnold Machine created the second effigy.  The third portrait appeared in 1985 and was the work of Raphael Maklouf.

The coin is encapsulated and rich blue velvet has been chosen for the interior and the exterior of the presentation case.  The coin is accompanied by a descriptive booklet that includes a Certificate of Authenticity and is protected by a beauty box.
