The Royal Mint has struck a commemorative £2 coin to celebrate the XIII Commonwealth Games held in Scotland during July 1986.  This is the very first coin issued in Britain to mark a sporting occasion.

Struck to Brilliant Uncirculated quality, the new £2 coin design for 1986 celebrates Scotlands hosting of the Commonwealth Games Championship in that year.

Designed by Norman Sillman, the reverse features a thistle encircled by a laurel wreath superimposed on St Andrew's Cross.

This coin is in nickel-brass, measuring 28.40mm and weighing 15.98g.

The presentation pack contains the new commemorative £2 coin housed within a fully illustrated presentation folder.  Dairy Crest were the official Sponsor of British Athletics and major Sponsor of Junion British Athletics during the 1986 Commonwealth Games during July 1986.
