A certificate accompanies this beautiful coin celebrating the 65th anniversary of the coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Struck by The Perth Mint from 1/4oz of 99.9% pure gold in proof quality, the coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II succeeded to the throne on 6th February 1952 after the death of her father, King George VI.

As a result of the appropriate mourning period and the time needed to prepare for the elaborate ceremony, it was more than a year before her coronation took place on 2nd June 1953.

The ceremony culminated with St Edward's  Crown being placed on the Queen's head by the Archbishop of Canterbury.  Made of solid gold in 1661, the crown weighs 2.15kg and is used exclusively for the crowning of a monarch.

The reverse of the coin depicts St Edward's Crown atop of a stylised shield.  These symbols of the British monarchy are surrounded by representations of the floral emblem of Australia, the golden wattle, as well as the official flower of each Australian state and territory.

The design includes the inscriptions H.M. QUEEN ELIZABETH II CORONATION ANNIVERSARY 65, the year-dates 1953 and 2018 and The Perth Mint's 'P' mintmark.

The coin's obverse depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2018 year-date and monetary denomination.

The Perth Mint will release no more than 750 of the 65th Anniversary of the Coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II 2018 1/4oz Gold Proof Coin.

The coin is encapsulated and presented in the original Perth Mint packaging, with Certificate of Authenticity and colourful outer.
