1992 Special Commemorative Issues

The £10 (Series E) Banknote was issued on 29th April 1992 to replace the note showing Florence Nightingale that had been in circulation since 1975.  The new note incorporates the latest computer aided design techniques and security features to protect it from the threat of counterfeiting.

The cypher AO1 is the first cypher to be printed in production.  The note in this limited edition carries a number somewhere between 002402 and 003402 and is therefore one of the first notes issued in the new design.

To commemorate the introduction into circulation of the new, smaller ten pence coin in 1992, the Royal Mint has issued a limited number of silver Proof two-coin sets containing the last of the original ten pence coins and the first of the new.

Both coins in this set bear on the reverse Christopher Ironside's design featuring a lion passant guardant royally crowned.

The £10 banknote and two Silver Proof 10p coins are beautifully presented in the Royal Mint blue presentation case, accompanied with a certificate of authenticity.

ONLY 1,000 OF THESE MAGNIFICIENT COLLECTIONS WILL EVER BE MADE AVAILABLE WORLDWIDE.
